Volunteer Opportunities

Pershing Middle School has many opportunities to get involved and support your child’s school.  Opportunities range from one time events to ongoing and regular shifts.  Some volunteer jobs, such as baking cookies, can be completed at home.  Others take place at school.  Many special events are on nights and weekends and welcome working parents to get involved.  Whatever amount of time you have to give, we’re delighted to put you to work.

Current volunteer opportunities include:

Library – Panda Power Hours: We need additional volunteers to help us offer extended hours in the library for Pershing students before school, after school, and during lunch periods. Parent volunteers are essential partners to make the library available for reading and homework or free time to play games, be with friends, and tinker in our Maker Space. With more volunteer support, more students will be able to take advantage of this opportunity. Support this popular program and sign up to volunteer! Contact Rahilla Shatto at rahilla.shatto@gmail.com for details and to help Pershing students make the most of their library!

Book Fair:  Volunteers are needed to man cash registers and assist students and parents in making selections.  Our annual Book Fair is held in the Spring at Barnes & Noble. Our chair is TBD.

Hospitality Committee:   If you love to bake, please help out with hospitality.  This committee provides food for special Pershing events throughout the year.  You can also help by manning the snack table at some of these events.  For ways in which you can help, please contact Christy Smith at  and Janett Gutierrez at

Beautification Committee:  If you’re a gardener and you love to get your hands dirty, contact Christina Kouzounis for way in which you can help make our campus beautiful. You can email demos@sbbglobal.net.

8th Grade Dance:  We will need help with dance planned for our 8th graders.  Parents are needed to help plan, promote, staff and chaperone the event.  If you’d like to be involved in these exciting and memorable activities, please contact Kathryn Schultz at jnkschultz@sbcglobal.net.
